Porowhita - Circle Songs

Formerly titled "Waiata mai - Maori Proverbs in Song", "Porowhita - Cricle Songs" is whakatauki (Maori proverbs) and other phrases sung in Maori and English by the O'Connor family in call and answer, round, and 4-part harmony. A music, language and cultural resource for children and adults.

It is not often that I come across a CD that I enjoy as much as the kids. The O'Connors have done an excellent job in using traditional Maori  proverbs and presenting then in such a wonderful contemporary way that you want to listen to the CD again and again because it is so uplifting and enjoyable! I was very impressed with both the amazing voices and harmonies, the hauntingly beautiful music and the superb quality of the recording. I heard you on the radio yesterday and loved your music, especially the richness of your harmonies. I sing in the Orpheus Choir and a group called The Magpies and always love voices singing in harmony. Your harmonies sound gorgeous. I did a couple of Maori papers at university years ago - one of them was a Te Reo one.
